Advocates for sin tax united with advocates for the Reproductive Health (RH) bill. The joining of forces transpired following yesterday’s Bicameral Conference Committee approval of the reconciled version of the sin tax measure.
“Now that sin tax has won, it’s time to join forces and give our support to an important measure,” stated Dr. Anthony Leachon, DOH Consultant on Non- Communicable Diseases. “After all, the objectives of the sin tax and the RH are common.”
“Principally, both measures are about saving lives and attaining good health outcomes,” continued Leachon.
“Both measures are for the betterment of Philippine institutes,” said Leachon. “Both sin tax and RH are pro-life and pro-poor.”
Among the members of the sin tax coalition supporting the RH bill are Action for Economic Reforms (AER), the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Alliance Philippines (FCAP), the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) and the Philippine College of Chest Physicians (PCCP).
