IN SEARCH OF REFORMS FOR LONG-TERM GROWTH AND PROSPERITY

Action for Economic Reforms (AER) initiated a series of forums titled “In Search of Reforms for Long-Term Growth and Prosperity” as its response to the growing debate regarding the country’s future. AER sees the importance of starting a process of building an economic and governance program for the nation’s recovery and long- term growth.

The main objective of the series is to share and discuss visions and programs, focusing on economic and development concerns, and in the process come up with reform measures that address current problems, as well as have a decisive impact on long-term prosperity.

The first forum was held on May 26, 2006 at the Columbus Room, 42nd Floor, Discovery Suites, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. The main speakers were Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel. Jr. and Representative of the 1st District of Tarlac Gilberto Teodoro, Jr. Three commentators/reactors participated: Prof. Michael Alba, Dean of De La Salle University’s College of Economics and Business; Former Secretary of Finance Ernest Leung and Ms. Margarita Gomez of Action for Economic Reforms.
