And now, the end is near,

[Cory to Arroyo – Resign!
Susan to Arroyo – Resign!
Makati Business Club to Arroyo – Resign!
Cabinet Members to Arroyo – Resign!
Liberal Party to Arroyo – Resign!
De La Salle University to Arroyo – Resign!
Other universities to Arroyo – Resign!
Surveys – Arroyo Resign!]

And so I face the final curtain.

[Resignation or impeachment/]

My friend, I’ll say it clear,
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain.

[Yun dagdag, yun dagdag. But I was only still protecting my votes even though the counting was over. They are assassinating my character like they assassinated Ninoy!]

I’ve lived a life that’s full.
I’ve traveled each and ev’ry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.

[I apologize for a lapse in judgment and only that.]

I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

[I emptied the treasury to finance my campaign,
I reappointed Garci many times,
I called Garci many times,
I exiled my husband,
I fired Cabinet members who were going to resign anyway,
I played the secession/civil war card,
I played the Charter change card,
I played the Chavit tapes card.
I spent my way in; why not now so I can stay in?
Huh? What deficit?]

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,

[Because there are more things you’ll never know about….]

I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.

[My husband, my son and my brother-in-law.
And I didn’t trust anyone to pass my messages to Garci, so I made the calls myself.]

But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.

[I exiled my husband and fired my Cabinet. Now Garci is missing.]

I faced it all and I stood tall;

[No comment.]

And did it my way.

I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried.
I’ve had my fill, my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;

[Lied, cheated and stole.]

And may I say, not in a shy way,

[Kapalmuks talaga ako.]

No, oh, no, not me,

[Oh? Sino pa kaya?]

I did it my way.

For what is a (wo)man, what has (s)he got?

[Bunye, Defensor, Tiglao, Ermita, Ramos, Lakas, Kampi and the Sulo Hotel Boys.]

If not (her)self, then (s)he has naught.

[Pichay is naught.]

To say the things (s)he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.

[I will never resign.]

The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way!

[Yes, it was my way.
Or the highway, and very soon.]
