The Action for Economic Reforms together with the American Cancer Society launched the report,”The Economics of Tobacco Farming in the Philippines” last September 15, 2016 at the Discovery Suites Hotel. The event was attended by health advocates, tobacco farmers, government agency representatives and the media. The report was presented by Ms. Jenina Joy Chavez of the AER-Industrial Policy Team and Dr. Jeffrey Drope of the American Cancer Society. The panel of reactors were Rep. Joet Garcia, District Representative of the 2nd District of Bataan, Dr. Ivanhoe Escartin from the Health Emergency Management Bureau, and Mr. Mario Cabasal, President of the National Federation of Tobacco Farmers and Cooperatives. Ms. Jo-Ann Diosana-Latuja facilitated the open forum and Ms. Madeiline Joy Aloria gave the synthesis of the discussion. To read more about the report click here.
